At Bonanza, we aim to develop riders who truly enjoy and embrace the sport and ultimately look forward to competitive showmanship. Our goal at Bonanza Equestrian Center is to provide training and instruction to bring out the best in each of our riders in a fun a safe environment geared towards learning, personal growth and development.
You will find well trained and reliable school Paso Fino horses, from the very steady who will look after the most nervous beginner, through to those able to perform advanced dressage movements and confidently jump around a track of fences.
Bonanza offers both private and group lessons for all ages, designed to help further your understanding and passion for all aspects of horsemanship and riding including how to groom, bridle, saddle and basic riding techniques in our lesson programs. Classes are structured to introduce the disciplines of dressage, show jumping and eventing. This allows the student to gain a greater understanding of the sport while increasing their overall ability to ride.
Children's Riding Lessons
Aimed at the very young rider, Bonanza offers tiny tots their very first glimpse into the world of Equestrian Art. Lessons cover such subjects as brushing ponies, behavior, saddlery and equipment all in a hands-on fun format. This is a great introduction to horses in a safe, non-threatening environment.
Children 7 – 15 years old can can learn the basic principles of how to control a pony both mounted and from the ground. For the complete novice, the pony will be lead until the child feels safe enough to ride the pony on their own. Our aim is for your child to have fun learning the tradition techniques through games while developing confidence and empathy.
Once children have progressed beyond the basics, they continue into our higher level lessons where they learn more about horseback riding. We encourage children to join groups of riders, thereby learning through watching and helping each other as much as from the instructions they receive themselves. They will start participating at intercollegiate events and demonstrate newly learned skills at a competitive level.
Adult Riding Lessons
We recommend beginner lessons where our instructor stands in the middle of a circle with a long line in hand and the other end attached to your horse. HHere you can learn to walk, balance and feel the horses gait. In your first lesson you also learn the basic principles of riding, including how to lead your horse, mounting, holding the reins correctly, starting and stopping, walking, basic turns and how to safely dismount.
For riders with some experience who are looking to advance we offer private and group lessons where you can improve your technique. This is a great way to return to riding after a break, and with our wide range of horses, you can rediscover past skills.
Bonanza offers lessons for more experienced riders as well. These include working the horse in a correct manner as well enhancing their competitive discipline. If riders have a particular skill they are trying to work on, our instructors will assist in targeting that skill until it is mastered.
